October Loot Crate Exclusive Funko POP Dr. Emmett Brown!

For over a month now, Loot Crate has been teasing collectors about an exclusive Funko POP! Vinyl figure coming in the October 2015 Loot Crate. With the October theme being “Time”, there’s been a lot of speculation–and a lot of diehard Doctor Who fans–hoping that this month’s LootCrate would include an exclusive Doctor Who POP Vinyl figure. But if you’re a big Whovian and were thinking of ordering this month’s Loot Crate just for the POP!, you might want to think again: the October Loot Crate Funko POP Vinyl Dr. Emmett Brown figure has now been revealed!

Funko Dr. Emmett Brown Loot Crate POP Exclusive October 2015If the only reason that you were planning to subscribe to this month’s Loot Crate was that you were hoping for a new Funko POP Doctor Who figure, then you might want to hop on over to the LC website and cancel your order. As in–right now. Spoilers for the October 2015 LootCrate have leaked onto the internet, and we can now confirm with 100% certainty exactly what this month’s exclusive is–and isn’t. And it definitely isn’t a new Doctor Who POP.

Instead, it’s an addition to the best-selling line of Funko Back to the Future POP Vinyls–Dr. Emmett Brown! Yes, it’s the 1950’s “past” version of Christopher Lloyd’s beloved characrer, Doc Brown, from the very first “Back to the Future” movie! This exclusive figure surprisingly looks to be a 100% new mold that doesn’t share tooling with any other vinyl, and depicts Doctor Emmett Brown with his glasses on, while holding jumper cables.

While the Marty McFly and Doc Brown POPs are Movie POPs #61 and #62, respectively, Dr. Emmett Brown is designated #236! That’s quite a gap between releases, isn’t it?

October 2015 Loot Crate UnboxingThe rest of the main items in the October 2015 Loot Crate unboxing consist of a mini replica Hoverboard from “Back to the Future 2”, a blue “Be Excellent to Each Other” Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure T-Shirt, and a Doctor Who Sonic Spork replica.

Of these three items, the only one that I can see being a letdown to most buyers is the Bill & Ted shirt–sadly, the fandom behind the Bill & Ted franchise pales in comparison to that of Doctor Who and even Back to the Future. I don’t foresee many folks being excited to wear this Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure shirt around town.

I don’t think that there’s anyone who doesn’t love the BTTF 2 hover board (even if the movie itself isn’t exactly universally loved), so I think that’s a pretty decent inclusion for this mystery box. In addition, although it’s not the vinyl toy that many fans were hoping for, I reckon that there are going to be a lot of Doctor Who fans out there who are super-psyched to own their own Sonic Spork!

Funko Dr. Emmett Brown Loot Crate POP Exclusive October 2015What do you think of the October 2015 Loot Crate Exclusive Funko POP Vinyl and the rest of the contents of this month’s mystery box, collectors? Are you happy to see another Back to the Future POP released, or were you hoping for something else entirely? Will you still be purchasing this month’s crate now that you know what the exclusive items included are?

October Loot Crate Exclusive Funko POP Dr. Emmett Brown! — 6 Comments

  1. Love the Dr Brown pop, so glad it wasn’t a Dr Who Pop. There’s more than enough Doctor Who pops with variants and I don’t want any of them.

  2. My Emmett Brown figure seems to be missing the electrical bridging between his two hands.

  3. I dug the shirt as well and look forward to wearing it. (though like imadgnr8 above, I’m apparently in an older age group that the writer of this article :) I LOVED the Emmet Brown pop. I thought this was a very solid crate all around with the weakest item being the hoverboard model. And that is saying something.

  4. Best crate in 6 months. Tiring of Who memorabilia, so Doc Brown Pop is right on time. Shirt is unexpected, nice touch. Spork is cool. Hoverboard is fantastic!
